Skills
Reusable instruction sets the agent can pull in on demand — the agentskills.io format.
What a skill is
A folder containing a SKILL.md file with YAML frontmatter (name + description) and markdown instructions. Optional subdirectories hold scripts/, references/, and assets/. Discovery follows progressive disclosure:
- Catalog (startup) — name + description only.
- Instructions (activation) — the full
SKILL.mdbody. - Resources (on demand) — scripts, references, and assets loaded individually. The agent can open a skill's companion files with
view_skill.
Where skills come from
AI Labs scans, in order:
| Scope | Locations |
|---|---|
| Workspace | .cptr/skills, .agents/skills, .claude/skills, .codex/skills |
| Global (user) | ~/.cptr/skills, ~/.agents/skills |
The cross-agent convention paths mean skills you already keep for Claude Code or Codex are picked up automatically. Managed skills that AI Labs creates live in .cptr/skills.
Using skills
- Type
$in the chat input to mention a skill and attach its instructions to the message. - Create a skill from chat — turn a working approach into a
SKILL.mdwith themanage_skilltool. - Skills are kept tidy automatically by a background review (see below).
Administration
Admins manage the global skill set and shared-skill discovery in Admin → Skills, and can choose the model used for background skill review (or let it follow the current chat model).
