Connections

A connection is a Hrida.ai server the app talks to. You can have as many as you like and switch between them from the sidebar — each opens the full Hrida.ai web UI inside the app.

Local vs remote

TypeWhat it is
LocalThe bundled Hrida AI Studio server the app installs and runs on this machine. Managed from Settings → Hrida.ai.
RemoteAny Hrida.ai server reachable by URL — a team instance, a VPS, another machine on your network. Added with + Add connection.

Both can be connected at the same time.

Adding & managing connections

From the sidebar or Settings → Connections:

  • Add — enter the server URL and an optional name. The app validates the URL before saving.
  • Connect — opens that server in a content view. Each connection renders in its own isolated session partition (persist:connection-<id>), so cookies, tokens, and local storage never bleed between servers.
  • Update — rename or change a connection's URL.
  • Remove — deletes the connection and its stored session.
  • Set default — see below.

Default connection

One connection is the default. It's the target for:

Set it in Settings → General → Default connection (or from the connection list). Without a default, those shortcuts prompt you to configure one.

When the embedded Hrida.ai UI links to another Hrida product — HridaOne, CRM, and similar — the app intercepts it and opens or creates a matching connection instead of kicking you out to your browser. External links that aren't Hrida properties open in the OS browser.

Security note

Remote connections you add are treated as untrusted: the embedded page can only call a small, explicit allowlist of read-only desktop APIs (app version, window focus, connection-open). It can't reach privileged operations like changing settings, installing packages, or resetting the app.
