xlsx

Create, edit, clean, and recalculate spreadsheets. Use it whenever a spreadsheet is the main input or the deliverable.

What it can do

  • Open, read, and fix existing workbooks: add columns, compute formulas, format, and chart.
  • Build new spreadsheets from scratch or from other data sources.
  • Clean messy tabular data (malformed rows, misplaced headers, junk lines) into a proper sheet.
  • Convert between Excel, CSV, and TSV.
  • Recalculate every formula with LibreOffice and check for errors before delivery, so totals are real values, not stale caches.

Use cases

  • Finance: build a budget or forecast model with live formulas and a summary tab.
  • Operations: turn a raw CRM or ERP export into a formatted, filterable report.
  • Data cleanup: merge several CSV files, remove duplicates, and standardize dates and currencies.
  • Reporting: add pivot-style summaries and charts to an existing workbook.

Example prompts

Clean up exports/leads.csv: fix the headers, remove duplicates, and save it as leads.xlsx with a summary sheet.
Add a monthly variance column and a chart to Q3-budget.xlsx.
Build a 12-month cash-flow forecast spreadsheet with inputs on one tab and formulas on another.

Not for: Word reports, HTML dashboards, or standalone scripts where the spreadsheet is not the deliverable.

docx

Create and edit Word documents and templates, including tables of contents, headings, page numbers, letterheads, tracked changes, and comments.

What it can do

  • Produce polished Word documents: reports, memos, letters, proposals, and templates.
  • Edit existing documents in place without breaking their formatting.
  • Find and replace text, insert or swap images, and reorganize content.
  • Redline a document with tracked changes under a named author, and add or answer comments.
  • Extract and restructure content from .docx and .dotx files.

Use cases

  • Legal: redline a contract with tracked changes and margin comments for the counterparty.
  • Sales: generate a proposal from a template with the client's details filled in.
  • HR: produce offer letters or policy documents with consistent letterhead and numbering.
  • Management: turn meeting notes into a formatted report with a table of contents.

Example prompts

Turn these notes into a 3-page project status report in Word with a table of contents.
Redline contract.docx: tighten the liability clause and add a comment explaining each change.
Fill template.dotx for Acme Corp and save it as acme-proposal.docx.

Not for: PDFs, spreadsheets, or Google Docs.

pptx

Build, read, and edit slide decks and templates, with design guidance on layout, color, typography, and spacing, plus a visual QA pass.

What it can do

  • Create new decks: pitch decks, project updates, training material.
  • Edit existing decks and company templates: update content, reorder, add, or delete slides.
  • Read and extract text, speaker notes, and comments from any .pptx or .potx.
  • Combine or split slide files.
  • Render slides to images and check them for overflow, overlap, and readability before delivery.

Use cases

  • Sales and fundraising: a pitch deck from a product brief, in your brand colors.
  • Leadership: a quarterly business review built from a spreadsheet of results.
  • Enablement: training slides with speaker notes from a process document.
  • Reuse: summarize an existing deck, or extract its content for an email.

Example prompts

Make a 10-slide pitch deck from product-brief.md using our template brand.potx.
Update Q3-review.pptx with the numbers in results.xlsx and add speaker notes to each slide.
Summarize the key decisions in board-deck.pptx in five bullet points.

pdf

Do anything with PDF files: read, extract, combine, split, fill, secure, and create them, including OCR for scanned documents.

What it can do

  • Extract text and tables from PDFs.
  • Merge multiple PDFs, split them apart, rotate pages, and add watermarks.
  • Fill PDF forms, both fillable fields and flat forms via annotations.
  • Encrypt and decrypt PDFs, and extract embedded images.
  • Run OCR on scanned PDFs to make them searchable.
  • Create new PDFs from content.

Use cases

  • Accounts payable: pull line items and totals out of supplier invoices into a table.
  • Compliance and HR: fill standard government or onboarding forms from employee data.
  • Legal: merge signed signature pages back into the final agreement.
  • Archiving: OCR a folder of scanned documents so they can be searched.

Example prompts

Extract the line-item table from every invoice in invoices/ into one spreadsheet.
Fill w9-form.pdf with the details in vendor.json and save a flattened copy.
Merge contract.pdf with signed-pages.pdf, then add a CONFIDENTIAL watermark.
Make scans/2024-statements.pdf searchable with OCR.
Requirements

Each skill uses standard document tools on the agent's machine, such as LibreOffice, Poppler, pandoc, and qpdf. See helper tools for the full list.
